Bend Apostille Service in Oregon
Apostille Request Form
Bend has grown fast with people who can work from anywhere, and a good number of them eventually choose to live abroad. That makes Bend’s apostille requests different from Portland’s: residence visas for Portugal, Spain, Mexico and Costa Rica, FBI background checks for digital-nomad and retirement permits, apostilled bank letters and powers of attorney for buying property overseas, and marriage certificates for spouses applying together.
Bend is about three and a half hours from our offices, over the Cascades, so Bend clients mail their documents. Before you send anything we check what the consulate is asking for, because visa checklists often say “apostilled” for documents that actually need a different step, such as an FBI check that goes to the U.S. Department of State rather than to Salem.
Who Issues Apostilles for Bend Documents?
The Oregon Secretary of State, Corporation Division, in Salem apostilles Oregon public documents and notarizations for $10 each. Deschutes County does not issue apostilles. Federal documents, including FBI background checks, are apostilled by the U.S. Department of State in Washington, DC. Bank letters and other private documents must be notarized by an Oregon notary first.

Bend Apostille FAQ
Does my FBI background check for a Portugal visa go to Salem?
No. An FBI Identity History Summary is a federal document, so it is apostilled by the U.S. Department of State. We handle it either way.
Can a Bend notary notarize my bank letter for an apostille?
Yes. A letter notarized by an Oregon notary can be apostilled by the Oregon Secretary of State, as long as the notarial certificate is complete.
Where do I get a Deschutes County marriage certificate?
From the Deschutes County Clerk in Bend or the Oregon Center for Health Statistics. A county copy needs the clerk’s printed name.
Do I have to drive to Portland?
No. Bend clients mail their documents and we return them with tracking.
How long does a Bend apostille take?
Usually the next business day after we receive a correct document, plus shipping.
