What a certified copy costs at the Mobile County Health Department
The health department publishes these fees: $15 for the first certified copy and $6 for each additional copy of the same record. Paying by credit or debit card adds a $1.95 administrative fee, and cards are taken at the main location only. Cash, personal checks and money orders are also accepted.
Access is restricted. Birth certificates are closed for 125 years from the date of birth and death certificates for 25 years, so during those periods you must be the person named or have a qualifying relationship, such as parent, spouse or sibling.
The Alabama Center for Health Statistics has filed marriage certificates since August 1936. Corrections to a marriage record go through the county probate court that issued the license.
Translations for the University of South Alabama and Spring Hill College
The University of South Alabama’s international admissions requirements state that academic records not in English must be accompanied by a certified translation. The university also recommends a course-by-course evaluation from a service affiliated with NACES or AICE, and notes that the student pays all costs, including translation.
Spring Hill College tells international applicants that all documents must be officially translated into English. Transcripts from institutions where teaching was not in English must be evaluated by an approved service such as a NACES member.
Both schools set their own acceptance rules, so read the current admissions page before you order. We translate transcripts, diplomas and degree certificates with a signed certificate of accuracy.
Sending University of South Alabama documents abroad
The South Alabama Registrar’s Office describes its own process for graduates who need documents for another country. The office produces the transcript, enrollment or degree verification, or diploma, has it signed by the Registrar, notarizes it and mails it to you. You then send the notarized document to the Alabama Secretary of State for the apostille. The Registrar notes that notarization is required before the apostille will be completed.
If the receiving country wants the document in its own language, the translation is ordered separately.
