Getting an Alabama apostille from Birmingham
Apostilles are not issued in Birmingham. They come from the Secretary of State’s Authentications Division at 11 South Union Street, Suite 224, Montgomery, AL 36130, which accepts requests by mail and offers walk-in service on weekdays. The state fee is $5.00 per document and each request needs the Authentication Submittal Form.
Birth and death certificates must carry the signature of the current Alabama State Registrar. A document in a foreign language must be accompanied by a notarized English translation or it will be rejected. A notarized document that needs a certification, rather than an apostille, must first get a county authentication of the notary’s commission. We can help you with an apostille request along with the translation.
